Hong Kong shifts financial markets to 24-hour on-chain settlement, speeds up tokenised payments

Hong Kong is strengthening tokenised financial infrastructure and digital asset regulation at the same time. It plans to build a 24-hour on-chain payment environment using tokenised central bank money, while also revising licensing for crypto operators and regulatory frameworks for tokenised investment products. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority aims to upgrade its EnsembleTX pilot by year-end, and regulators also plan tougher oversight of custody and anti-money laundering, including market surveillance using systems and AI.

Peter Schiff says Fed has already lost to inflation, chose gold over bitcoin

Peter Schiff said the Federal Reserve has already lost the fight against inflation and that further interest-rate increases could put strong downward pressure on bitcoin and the broader crypto market. In an interview, he tied bond-market instability, rising U.S. Treasury yields, weakening dollar purchasing power and increased central-bank gold buying into a single trend. He said restoring credibility would be difficult and argued that bitcoin lacks backing compared with gold.

UK FCA finalises crypto authorisation guidance; applications open Sept. 30

Britain\'s Financial Conduct Authority has issued final guidance on which cryptoasset businesses will require authorisation under a new digital asset regulatory framework. Applications will open on Sept. 30, and existing registered firms must reassess their status because registrations and permissions will not automatically carry over. Firms seeking transitional arrangements must apply by Feb. 28, 2027. The new regime is scheduled to take effect on Oct. 25, 2027.
