Fusion startup listing rush sparks industry split, with concerns it is too soon and results must come first

Seoul to host IAEA fusion energy conference in October 2027
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said on April 2 it will host the 31st IAEA Fusion Energy Conference in Seoul in October 2027. The ministry said it signed an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency to support preparations. About 1,500 government officials and fusion experts from around 40 countries are expected. The event will discuss research results, commercialisation strategies, cooperation, regulation and standards, and private investment.

Science ministry launches public-private drive to develop Korean innovative fusion demonstration reactor
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Jan. 21 it finalised and will push ahead with its 2026 fusion research and development implementation plan to ensure smooth execution of its fusion acceleration strategy. The ministry will begin work on design technology for a Korean innovative fusion demonstration reactor and launch a new project to introduce AI across fusion research. It will also expand support for diverse fusion approaches, strengthen industry-academia-research cooperation, and build regional testing and demonstration infrastructure.
