Tether joins Kazakhstan digital finance pilot to pursue tenge stablecoin, RWA
Tether signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Bank of Kazakhstan and the Alatau city authority to pursue a tenge-linked stablecoin pilot and a real-world asset tokenization model. The parties plan to review stablecoin issuance cases in other countries and prepare a concept and pilot proposal, but have not named an issuer or a timeline. Kazakhstan is also expanding crypto-linked investments and running separate stablecoin and property tokenization pilots.

Kazakhstan to set up national crypto analysis centre for integrated monitoring
Kazakhstan is moving to establish a national cryptocurrency analysis centre to monitor fiat and crypto transactions in an integrated way as digital-asset trading expands. The centre will run on the National Bank\'s SupTech platform and analyse customer data, wallets and individual transfers, while supporting blockchain analysis and automated supervision. It will integrate with an anti-fraud centre launched in 2024. The initiative follows rising AIFC-registered digital-asset volumes and wider national regulation.

Kazakhstan opens crypto market, issues first exchange licence
Kazakhstan\'s central bank has issued its first licence to operate a cryptocurrency exchange under a revised digital asset legal framework. The initial permit went to local company Pax Finance, allowing nationwide trading and custody beyond Astana\'s special financial zone. The central bank said a licensing regime began on May 1 and reiterated firms must also register with it. Authorities have also tightened enforcement, closing about 130 illegal venues and seizing assets.
