Five major brokerages post 58.5 trillion won Q2 operating profit on surging trading
Five major South Korean brokerages posted combined second-quarter operating profit of 58.5 trillion won on a surge in stock market trading value, with all five setting new quarterly records. Daily average domestic stock trading value rose 39.8 percent from the previous quarter to 118.1 trillion won including ETFs, lifting brokerage commissions. Platform brokers step up push into 700 trillion won pension market
Toss Securities, KakaoPay Securities and Kiwoom Securities are stepping up efforts to win pension clients as they seek to reduce reliance on brokerage earnings tied to stock trading volume. Total assets in retirement pensions and pension savings reached 699.6 trillion won at end-2025, with pension savings funds rising sharply. Toss has launched a pension savings account, KakaoPay has built scale in pension savings and ISAs, and Kiwoom has entered retirement pensions with fee waivers and mobile ETF trading.

Kiwoom Securities Q2 operating profit up 93 percent to 789 billion won
Kiwoom Securities posted stronger-than-expected results for the second quarter, helped by rising trading value in the domestic stock market and solid performance in its sales and trading business. The firm reported operating profit of 789 billion won, up 93.2 percent from a year earlier, and revenue of 16.07 trillion won, up 256.7 percent. Net profit rose 119.4 percent to 681 billion won.
