KAIST secures technology to build national radiomap using Wi-Fi
KAIST said a research team led by computer science professor Dongsoo Han (한동수) has developed a core technology to build a nationwide wireless LAN radiomap by combining smartphone Wi-Fi signals with real address information. The technique automatically links Wi-Fi signals collected during app use with the address of the location, enabling signal-pattern maps to accumulate over time and improve accuracy. KAIST said it can provide precise positioning even where GPS is weak, and could help reduce location errors in emergencies.
