South Korea\'s FSC builds consensus on phased rollout of scraping blocking, seeks public MyData alternative
South Korea\'s financial authorities discussed a plan to implement limits on scraping in phases after preparing alternatives such as public MyData, aiming to reduce inconvenience for financial consumers caused by blocking by administrative bodies and the Supreme Court. The Financial Services Commission held a financial sector inspection meeting on scraping restrictions and reviewed expected impacts and response measures. Participants backed the purpose of blocking while calling for sufficient alternatives and a preparation period, and also reviewed security and internal controls used in current scraping processes.

Toss launches customised government support search service with Korea Inclusive Finance Agency
Viva Republica, the operator of the Toss app, launched a service with the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency that lets users check and apply at once for finance, employment and welfare support programmes. The service recommends government support tailored to an individual’s situation and allows applications to be submitted remotely within the app. It is linked to the agency’s “Seomin Finance Ita” platform and connects users to phone consultations with specialist counsellors after forms are completed.

Broadcast Media Communications Commission launches online I-PIN issuance for teens 14 and older
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission said on June 30 it will fully implement online issuance of I-PINs for teenagers aged 14 and older. It is working with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, a public MyData expansion task force, KAIT and three I-PIN issuers including NICE Information Service, Seoul Credit Rating and Korea Credit Bureau. The change allows immediate online issuance with legal guardian consent even without a phone in the teen’s name.
