U.S. bars imports of foreign robots, power inverters targeting China, including humanoids and robot vacuums
The U.S. government will restrict new imports of foreign-made advanced robots with network connectivity and foreign power inverters, citing national security. The Federal Communications Commission said the move expands controls beyond telecom equipment to robotics and energy devices. The measure covers humanoids and other mobile devices meeting set criteria, and could make it harder for some new robot vacuums to enter the U.S. without waivers. Existing products are not affected.
