Dormant bitcoin whale moves after 12 years, returns near 8,000 percent

Four bitcoin wallets that had been inactive for more than 12 years have been activated over the past two days, moving a total of 114.39 BTC. The coins came from wallets created in early 2014, with reported returns of 7,746 percent at the time of transfer. Similar moves were recorded earlier this month, including a transfer from a 2011 wallet. Some observers say the amounts are too small to shock the market, while others view the activity as a warning signal.

XRP Ledger overhauls multisig approval structure to boost institutional use

XRP Ledger (XRPL) is pursuing an upgrade to move multisignature transaction approvals on-chain. The proposal, called On-Chain Cosigner, was submitted to the XRP Ledger Standards repository. If adopted, signers could complete approvals within XRPL without external communications or a central coordinator. The change aims to address coordination risks in the current off-chain process and is designed to support enterprise and institutional needs, including batch transactions, fee and reserve sponsorship, and future lending protocol operations.

Ledger CTO says multisig is not always the answer after Coldcard incident

Ledger Chief Technology Officer Charles Guillemet said Bitcoin users do not need to rush to adopt multisig wallets in response to the recent Coldcard incident. He warned that making wallet setups more complex in the name of security can introduce additional risks and make recovery and management harder. He pointed to Bitcoin miniscript as an alternative and also mentioned MuSig2. He said security choices should be based on individual threat models.
