Daiso overhauls store operations, expands cashless stores
Asung Daiso is expanding “cashless stores” and reviewing its store operating system as card payments spread and bank branches shrink, increasing the burden of cash handling. The company will run 73 stores nationwide as cashless from April 20, including 13 in Seoul, 35 in Gyeonggi and 6 in Incheon. It said the move reflects changes in consumer behavior and the financial environment, and is not aimed at cutting labor costs.
