OpenAI expands \'Daybreak\' program to support AI security for water systems and power grids
OpenAI is expanding a program to provide AI models in the form of subsidies to critical infrastructure organisations such as water utilities, power suppliers and local governments, Axios reported. OpenAI President Greg Brockman (그렉 브록먼) introduced the initiative at a security summit. The company plans to invest $1 billion in Daybreak for Frontline Defenders and also launched Daybreak for America. OpenAI will run training with MS-ISAC and work with more than 35 technology and cybersecurity firms.

Microsoft Copilot OS prototype leaks, codename \'Ion\' confirmed
Microsoft has developed a Copilot OS prototype it calls by the codename \'Ion,\' according to a report. Its existence was confirmed after 2024 materials were leaked, Windows Central reported on Thursday. The interface is based on web technologies using the Microsoft Edge browser and offers desktop-style features such as a Start menu, taskbar and window layering. It can replace the desktop shell on Windows 11 or run on AOSP Android.

Gartner warns AI overconfidence to cause most 2026 mainframe migration projects to fall short
More than 70 percent of mainframe migration projects launched this year will fail to deliver targeted results because organisations overestimate the capabilities of generative AI tools, Gartner warned on June 18. It also forecasts that 75 percent of vendors active in the mainframe migration market will change their business models or cease operations by 2030 as expectations are tempered and demand for uniform migration solutions declines.
