South Korea to launch physical AI R&D in Jeonbuk and South Gyeongsang, lays out five-year roadmap
South Korea will begin physical AI research and development focused on manufacturing sites in Jeonbuk and South Gyeongsang provinces. In Jeonbuk, the project targets a software platform that lets different robots and equipment work together and integrates an entire factory into a single system. In South Gyeongsang, it will develop a large action model for real-world actions and precision control. The science ministry presented plans and targets through 2030.

GPU-backed companies speed next-generation LLM and action AI development
Startups that received government support for graphics processing units are speeding up development of AI models, including diffusion-based transformer large language models, Korean-focused document parsing models and action AI agents, officials and industry sources said on Wednesday. Trillionlabs built its Trida-7B model using Nvidia H200 GPUs, while Posicube and Inhance are developing Korean VLMs and action models. The Science Ministry is allocating and monitoring GPUs funded by a supplementary budget.

CX company Genesys to unveil LAM-based agentic virtual advisor
Genesys, a global customer experience solutions company, said on Feb. 12 it will unveil what it called the industry’s first agentic virtual advisor based on a large action model in the first quarter. The service, named Genesys Cloud Agentic Virtual Advisor, is designed to overcome limits of reactive self-service and improve operating efficiency. It uses Scaled Cognition’s APT-1 LAM and supports company-specific guidelines through Genesys AI Studio.
