iM Financial strengthens financial consumer protection capabilities at affiliates
iM Financial Group has provided practical training for financial consumer protection staff at its major affiliates as it seeks to strengthen consumer protection systems across the group. It said on Thursday it joined the Korea Finance Institute’s financial consumer protection training programme. Participants included staff from iM Bank, iM Securities, iM Life, iM Capital and iM Asset Management. The programme covered KPI design, case studies and responses to complaints and disputes.

iM Financial first-half net profit 295.6 billion won down 4.4 percent
iM Financial Group posted 295.6 billion won in net profit attributable to controlling shareholders in the first half of this year, down 4.4 percent from a year earlier. Total operating profit rose 4.4 percent to 1.11 trillion won, supported by growth in corporate lending at iM Bank and operating assets at iM Capital. Net profit fell due to a change in the education tax rate and higher provisioning.

Regional financial holdings post mixed Q1 net profit results despite asset growth
BNK, JB and iM financial holding groups posted asset growth in the first quarter, but their profit structures diverged. Combined net profit rose 9.9 percent from a year earlier to 532 billion won. BNK’s profit jumped 26.9 percent, while JB and iM were little changed. Differences emerged in non-interest income, expenses and asset quality indicators. All three saw capital units strengthen their role in earnings and expanded shareholder return policies.
