Italy\'s Exein raises $270 million to develop foundation model for physical AI security

Italian cybersecurity startup Exein has raised $270 million, the Financial Times reported on Sept. 15. The funding round valued the company at $1.7 billion, more than double its $770 million valuation nine months earlier. Founder and CEO Gianni Cuozzo said AI tools have boosted hackers\' capabilities and require a new security approach. Exein is embedding security functions into device firmware and is developing a foundation model for physical AI security for release next year.

Coldcard third attack sees 45 percent of stolen assets moved, signs of laundering of 97.09 BTC

About 45 percent of the funds stolen in a third attack targeting Coldcard bitcoin wallets has already been moved, as the attacker continues shifting assets using coinjoin and cross-chain transactions, according to Galaxy Research. It said 97.09 BTC has been moved so far, worth about $7.8 million at the time. Galaxy also identified a new set of 58 addresses that could raise total stolen bitcoin to 1,806 BTC, about $143.9 million at current prices.

Bitcoin wallet industry faces disruption as standard interface support ends

A standard interface linking Bitcoin Core to hardware wallets, HWI (Hardware Wallet Interface), is effectively moving toward an end-of-life phase, CryptoSlate reported. The maintainer said HWI has long been in maintenance mode and will stop accepting new devices or features beyond MuSig2 work. A Rust-based successor candidate, BHWI, has not shown practical deployments. Wallet developers that package or invoke HWI are expected to shoulder the immediate burden.
