Coinbase, Deribit integrate institutional trading network; U.S. options to launch in fourth quarter

Crypto exchange Coinbase has integrated its international institutional derivatives trading system with Deribit, moving International Exchange institutional accounts into a Deribit-based environment and consolidating liquidity. Coinbase Bermuda Ltd will broker and custody institutional orders routed to Deribit, while access to Deribit’s direct platform remains restricted in the United States. For U.S. Coinbase Prime clients, options onboarding via Coinbase Financial Markets has opened, with trading scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter.

Thailand allows spot bitcoin and ether ETFs, effective Oct. 16

Thailand\'s Securities and Exchange Commission has allowed the domestic inclusion of spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds limited to bitcoin and ether. The regulator issued 11 related rules on Oct. 8, and the new rules take effect on Oct. 16. The SEC set conditions for fund structure, custody and trading, and introduced investor-protection steps. It also restricted alternative products and tightened requirements for asset managers and service providers.

South Africa\'s FNB launches cryptocurrency investment service

South African major bank First National Bank (FNB) has launched a cryptocurrency investment service called Crypto Investing. Customers can trade bitcoin, ether, XRP, solana and tether (USDT) directly on the bank\'s existing stock trading platform. The service is provided in partnership with licensed South African cryptocurrency trading platform VALR. The minimum transaction amount is 10 rand and trading is available 24 hours a day. FNB said it launched the service as demand rose.
