Datacentre waste heat stored in concrete as 500-degree thermal battery emerges
A concrete-based thermal battery has been developed to store heat that was previously discarded during datacentre cooling and reuse it later. The system collects waste heat from servers and can supply it to cooling equipment and industrial processes, aiming to improve energy efficiency. A prototype stores 150 kWh, withstood temperatures up to 500 degrees and achieved more than 70 percent efficiency in a full charge-discharge test. The technology is moving toward commercialisation.

Micron CEO says AI has fully changed memory industry, breaking boom-bust formula
Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said the spread of AI is fundamentally changing the memory industry’s business structure and breaking the old boom-and-bust pattern driven by pricing and oversupply. He said memory has become core infrastructure for AI systems, which require more capacity, higher performance and lower power. Micron plans to invest $250 billion in U.S. production and research and is building major facilities near Boise, Idaho.
