IITP to boost full-stack linking AI semiconductors and physical AI to respond to AX 2.0
South Korea\'s Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP) is strengthening full-stack competitiveness by linking AI semiconductors, physical AI and next-generation networks, it said. It aims to respond to the spread of agentic AI and physical AI in industrial sites in the AX 2.0 era. IITP outlined R&D and talent development plans, including support for AI semiconductor firms, 6G and satellite communications, cybersecurity initiatives, defence AX programmes and expanded AI training.

Data key to AI shift as South Korea government pushes to secure high-quality AI data
South Korea will speed up efforts to secure high-quality data to prepare for the artificial intelligence era, building data needed by the private sector and setting up a \"data highway\" linking public and private datasets. The government will expand access to public data, create sector-specific datasets and build \"data spaces\" to promote sharing. It also plans legal and institutional revisions covering personal information, healthcare data and copyrights.

MSIT holds working-level body on data safe zones, discusses steps to boost use
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held its 2026 working-level consultative body on data safe zones on May 11 to discuss measures to improve access and promote use of previously undisclosed data. The meeting brought together 16 organisations, including 11 operators and five institutions selected for new designation. The ministry plans to support selected institutions with up to 200 million won each. Agencies also presented cloud linkage and consulting plans.
