97 percent of U.S. companies still use databases past end of support

Most U.S. companies continue to run database software versions that are no longer officially supported, a survey showed. Percona’s poll of 300 U.S. database administrators, site reliability engineers and platform engineers found 97 percent said their organisations operate at least some end-of-support database versions. Respondents cited upgrade complexity, the need to check applications and infrastructure, and cost pressures such as cloud and licensing costs. Risks include missing security patches and performance issues.

Can they keep building? Data centre stocks on edge as AI slowdown talk grows

Concerns that AI model development could slow are shaking shares of companies that had ridden expectations for a U.S. data centre expansion. Naver seeks investment in 216 MW solar project to secure power for data centres

Naver is seeking a stake investment and a long-term power purchase agreement for a 216 MW solar power project to meet electricity demand from its AI and cloud data centres. The company signed an MOU with Asian renewable energy developer Gurin Energy to secure renewable power for data centres. The companies will discuss investment size and purchase terms, aiming to sign a definitive agreement by year-end.
