NH Nonghyup Financial to push regional close-to-home finance project in second half

NH Nonghyup Financial Group will promote a “regional close-to-home finance project” as a key task in the second half of the year. It plans to expand investment and lending to region-specific industries and companies and focus group capabilities on easing the financial burden of vulnerable groups and delinquent debtors. The group reviewed second-half plans at a special committee meeting in Seoul and said it supplied a total of 14 trillion won in productive and inclusive finance in the first half.

UK Parliament climate finance proposal names XRPL as operating infrastructure for renewables

A climate finance proposal submitted to the UK Parliament names the XRP Ledger (XRPL) as the blockchain operating layer in a pilot framework aimed at expanding investment in clean and renewable energy. The document proposes a structure known as CloCo, or climate conditional convertible bonds, to channel private capital into projects. It says XRPL would support data integrity and transparency without replacing banks or regulators, and notes the proposal is independent and not an official government adoption.

KB Financial donates 10 billion won cooperation fund for SMEs and small merchants

KB Financial Group has donated a 10 billion won cooperation fund to support small and medium-sized enterprises and small merchants in their digital, green and safety transitions. KB Financial said it will carry out related projects with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership. The fund allocates 2 billion won for AI transition, 3 billion won for green transition and 2 billion won for safety transition, and commits 3 billion won to a master fund for impact investment.
