MSIT launches public climate technology demonstration cooperation with GGGI
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT begins a cooperation project with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to demonstrate public climate technologies. The ministry signed an administrative agreement in Seoul on April 14 on the MSIT-GGGI Climate Technology Acceleration Fund. The contribution agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed in June last year. MSIT plans to build contributions totaling 21 billion won over seven years through 2032 and start projects in 2026 with 1 billion won.

South Korean industry holds back large-scale green investment amid policy uncertainty
South Korean companies are increasing use of green bonds to finance the energy transition, but weak enforcement of the country’s green taxonomy is raising greenwashing risks, a report said. IEEFA found South Korea ranked second in financial development among ASEAN+3 economies but fourth in green finance development. It said the voluntary K-Taxonomy could allow fossil fuel-dependent projects to be labelled green, potentially limiting overseas funding as global standards tighten.

KB Financial wins MSCI ESG \'AAA\' for fifth straight time
KB Financial Group said on Thursday it won the top \'AAA\' grade for a fifth consecutive time in MSCI\'s 2026 ESG Ratings, the first South Korean financial company to do so. The global investment research firm rates about 8,500 listed companies each year on a seven-grade scale from AAA to CCC. KB Financial said it received high marks across governance, climate risk management, climate finance, information security, data protection and inclusive finance.
