OpenAI teams up with Yubico to link security keys to ChatGPT accounts
OpenAI has launched a new program to strengthen security for ChatGPT accounts, TechCrunch reported on Wednesday. The company introduced Advanced Account Security, which users can access by applying. OpenAI said it was designed mainly for people in high-risk jobs but anyone can sign up. Digital security firm Yubico also announced two security keys that link to ChatGPT accounts, to be released as co-branded products with OpenAI.

Reddit introduces \'human verification\' system to block AI bots
Reddit is introducing a system that requires suspected accounts to undergo “human verification” to curb the spread of AI bots. The measure will not apply sitewide and will be triggered only when activity patterns indicate possible automation. Reddit will detect bots by analysing account activity and technical indicators, and accounts that fail verification will be restricted. Posts written using AI are not banned, and communities can set their own rules.

Passkeys, a passwordless login technology backed by FIDO standards and WebAuthn, are drawing attention as a way to simplify authentication on phones and PCs. Paradigm general partner Giorgios Constantinopoulos highlights their fit with self-custodial crypto wallets and says users have seen fast onboarding without Chrome extensions, mobile apps or seed phrases. He lists four common misconceptions around support, reuse, export and repeated login prompts, and notes limitations including webviews and recovery risks.
