XRP Ledger Ethereum sidechain signals major upgrade; what changes
XRP Ledger’s Ethereum-compatible sidechain is preparing an upgrade focused on stronger security and operational stability. Peersyst said it plans to release a testnet proposal for XRPL EVM v11 as early as this week, with mainnet deployment to follow. The upgrade targets economic security, safer cross-chain connectivity, improved validator management and broader stack hardening. Changes include restricting new validator entry to designated authorities while allowing existing validators to exit voluntarily.

Ripple RLUSD links with cross-chain infrastructure Squid, giving access to 20,000 tokens
Cross-chain infrastructure platform Squid has integrated Ripple\'s stablecoin RLUSD, enabling users to swap assets across blockchains in a single transaction. Squid said its routing layer connects RLUSD to more than 100 blockchains and more than 20,000 tokens, allowing direct swaps from assets such as USDC, USDT, ETH and XRP without separate bridging, token wrapping or multi-step trades. RLUSD is issued on XRP Ledger and Ethereum and expands to Ethereum layer2 networks.

XRP role back in focus as Ripple\'s RLUSD expands across chains
Ripple\'s stablecoin RLUSD has begun operating on the XRP Ledger\'s Ethereum Virtual Machine sidechain, renewing attention on how XRP\'s role may be changing within the ecosystem. XRP supporter Bill Morgan said Ripple\'s description of XRP as a \"complementary asset\" differs from what some supporters expected in 2018. He said the issue is not whether XRP is still needed, but whether expectations and role definitions are shifting as RLUSD expands.
