KT conducts special network inspections ahead of World Cup opener
KT said on Monday it has set up a telecom quality inspection and response system in major crowded areas where cheering is expected ahead of South Korea’s first World Cup match on June 12. The company conducted advance checks around Gwanghwamun Square, City Hall Square and Yeongdong-daero in Gangnam, and prepared network operation measures for higher traffic. It will apply W-SDN technology, deploy mobile base stations and conduct 24-hour monitoring.

South Korea\'s telecom operators are stepping up preparations for a BTS live concert at Seoul\'s Gwanghwamun Square, expecting a surge in data traffic from crowds and social media use. SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus are expanding network capacity, adding mobile base stations and temporary repeaters, and strengthening real-time monitoring. The companies are also highlighting AI-based autonomous network technologies, including SKT\'s A-One system and KT\'s W-SDN, to predict issues and automatically control traffic.

KT to run intensive network management ahead of Gwanghwamun Square concert
KT said on March 15 it will operate an intensive network management system to provide stable communications services ahead of a large-scale concert on March 21 at Seoul\'s Gwanghwamun Square. It will deploy 6 mobile base stations and newly build 79 wireless base stations and 14 Wi-Fi units around Gwanghwamun and City Hall squares. KT will also run emergency monitoring and apply its AI-based W-SDN traffic control solution.
