Intel 18A-based new laptop chips face supply shortage reports, testing manufacturing comeback plan
Intel’s next-generation laptop processors are reported to be facing supply shortages from the start of their launch, drawing attention because they are the company’s first major products made on its advanced 18A process. Tech journalist Tim Culpan said contacts at three major PC makers cited shortages of Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake. Intel acknowledged some tight supply but said it is improving, as it pushes its IDM strategy and expands its foundry business.

Dell revives XPS 13, targets MacBook Neo with $599 student price
Dell is moving to target the entry-level premium laptop market with its flagship XPS brand. The newly introduced XPS 13 will carry a $599 student promotional price through September, with general pricing starting at $699. Dell says it is its thinnest and lightest XPS, at 12.7 mm thick and about 1 kg. It comes with a 13.4-inch anti-glare touchscreen and up to 17 hours of streaming use.

Intel aims to turn tables with Wildcat Lake to stop MacBook Neo
Intel unveiled its next-generation Wildcat Lake CPU and a reference laptop, signaling a Windows-side push against Apple’s MacBook Neo. The 14-inch ultra-light model adopts an aluminum chassis and bright colors. The chip offers 2 performance cores, 4 low-power efficiency cores and a 17 TOPS NPU, with an 11W fanless mode and power scaling up to 35W. The reference device includes 16GB of RAM. Price and launch timing were not disclosed.
