Nexthrus invests in Chinese SLG developer Quantum Virtual Realm for global push
Nexthrus said on Wednesday it is stepping up its push into the global games market by investing in a Chinese strategy simulation game developer. The company said its board on Tuesday approved a strategic investment in Hong Kong-based Quantum Virtual Realm. The studio is developing a new strategy simulation title and plans to launch it first in China in early 2027 through a local publisher. Nexthrus said it will support development.

Sensor Tower says 4X strategy genre overtakes MMORPG to top South Korea mobile game revenue
Sensor Tower said the 4X strategy genre has risen to No. 1 in revenue in South Korea\'s mobile game market, surpassing MMORPGs. It said January revenue for 4X strategy topped $70 million, marking the first time it led. MMORPGs had held the top spot for 9 years. Sensor Tower pointed to Whiteout Survival and Last War: Survival, new titles such as Last Z and Kingshot, and aggressive advertising and live-ops as drivers.

Sensor Tower says steady updates, events drive mobile games market recovery
Sensor Tower released a report on Jan. 28 analysing key factors behind the mobile games market recovery. It estimated global mobile game revenue at $82 billion in 2025 and said in-app purchases have re-entered a recovery phase after a post-pandemic adjustment. Annual downloads are stabilising above 50 billion. Publishers are focusing on extending game lifecycles through LiveOps, while revenue gains are concentrated in a few genres and top titles, especially strategy games.
