SOOP wins Welfare Ministry award for suicide prevention, life respect efforts
SOOP said on Friday it received a commendation from South Korea\'s health and welfare minister at the 2026 Suicide Prevention Day ceremony in central Seoul. The company was recognised for responding to suicide-inducing and harmful information on its platform and for activities aimed at raising awareness of respect for life among streamers and users. SOOP has run campaigns with the Korea Suicide Prevention Center since 2023.

Cohere pushes to set up South Korea unit, plans large hiring of field development engineers
Enterprise AI company Cohere is accelerating expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. It said it plans to set up local units in South Korea and Japan, strengthen cooperation with Singapore’s public sector and double its technology and sales headcount in the region by the end of this year. Cohere is also hiring field development engineers in South Korea to support customised AI deployments for companies. It aims to quadruple its regional footprint by end-2027 and more than triple its customer base over the next year.

Science ministry holds tribute ceremony for Korean science and technology merit awardees
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held a tribute ceremony on Tuesday for science and technology merit awardees who contributed to national scientific and technological development. The ministry held the event at 3 p.m. at the Westin Josun Hotel in Seoul. It said 95 people have been honoured since the first designations in 2017 under a law on treatment and support for awardees. About 180 people attended, including awardees and families.
