SOOP said on Friday it received a commendation from the minister of health and welfare at the '2026 Suicide Prevention Day' ceremony held on Sept. 10 at the Westin Josun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. SOOP CEO Lee Min-won (이민원) attended the ceremony.

The Suicide Prevention Day ceremony is held annually by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the public-private consultative body on life-respect policy to raise interest in suicide prevention and spread a culture of respect for life.

SOOP was recognised for responding to suicide-inducing and harmful information on its platform and for continuing activities to raise awareness of respect for life among streamers and users.

Since 2023, it has been running suicide prevention and life-respect campaigns with the Korea Suicide Prevention Center. In 2024, it signed a business agreement to expand a culture of respect for life and prevent suicide, and has jointly operated campaigns and online seminars.

It also held life-respect culture campaigns and seminars in the first half of this year and has continued its second-half campaign since Sept. 1. The campaign focuses on publicising the need to support children who lost their parents and help them recover their daily lives.

SOOP plans to hold a seminar on respect for life in November as well. It also plans to continue related activities involving streamers and users.
