Spain blocks Polymarket and Kalshi as prediction market regulation spreads
Spanish authorities have blocked access to Polymarket and Kalshi in Spain over suspected violations of gambling laws. Spain’s gambling regulator, DGOJ, said access will remain blocked until legal procedures involving the two platforms are completed, a process it expects to finish within 3 to 4 months. DGOJ said prediction markets that bet on uncertain future outcomes are treated as games of chance in Spain and other European jurisdictions, requiring separate administrative licences.
