No time to patch: AI era puts new focus on cybersecurity
The cybersecurity industry has long assumed defenders had time to set patch priorities after vulnerabilities were disclosed, but AI is rapidly shrinking that window, Axios reported. As the time from disclosure to real attacks shortens, companies may need to patch systems within hours rather than days or weeks. Microsoft released patches for more than 600 vulnerabilities in July. Security experts warn attackers can weaponise flaws faster than organisations can respond.

AI security technology surges to counter AI-driven attacks
Security companies are accelerating efforts to counter threats that exploit AI models, with momentum building around agentic AI-based security. Zscaler introduced two security products for AI agents and an AI Access Graph, while Check Point launched agent-based exposure validation. Concerns are rising over a “patch gap” as AI can find vulnerabilities and write attack code within hours. Companies including Rubrik, Samsung SDS and others also announced new products and partnerships.
