AI travel agency Fora raises $60 million, reaches unicorn status
AI-based travel agency Fora has raised $60 million in a Series D funding round and received a $1 billion valuation. TechCrunch reported on July 16 local time that Forerunner and Tactile Ventures led the investment, with Insight Partners and Thrive Capital also participating. Founded in 2021, Fora connects travel advisors and users and plans to expand its AI assistant, Via, while increasing hiring and broadening into areas such as cruises and airlines.

Helion raises $465 million, accelerates goal to supply fusion power to Microsoft by 2028
U.S. fusion startup Helion Energy raised $465 million in new funding, valuing the company at $15.5 billion. Helion said it will use the money to accelerate construction of its first commercial power plant, the Orion project planned in Washington state, and aims to supply fusion electricity to the grid as early as 2028. The company has a power supply contract with Microsoft for its data centres and says it plans to deliver by 2028.

Anduril valuation doubles to $61 billion ahead of IPO after $5 billion funding
U.S. defence technology startup Anduril has raised $5 billion, lifting its valuation to $61 billion, double its previous $30.5 billion, as it approaches an initial public offering. The funding round was led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz. Anduril plans to spend the proceeds on manufacturing, research and infrastructure. CEO Brian Schimpf said the company will invest aggressively to expand defence system production for the United States.
