TheVentures partners with China\'s Z.ai to jointly identify promising AI startups

TheVentures, an early-stage venture capital firm, said on Tuesday it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Hong Kong-listed Chinese AI startup Z.ai to support the global AI startup ecosystem. The deal aims to combine the two companies’ acceleration systems and technical infrastructure to jointly identify and nurture promising AI startups. The partners plan to provide access to Z.ai infrastructure and APIs, run scale-up mentoring, and build a community for technical exchange.

TheVentures makes pre-A investment in beanless coffee alternative brand SANS

TheVentures said on Jan. 12 it made a pre-A round investment in Wake, a foodtech startup that operates the beanless coffee alternative brand SANS. Co-investors included Shinsegae Group CVC Signite Partners. TheVentures said coffee-belt production fell 31 percent over the past five years and bean prices hit a 50-year high. It said Wake has differentiated technology to deliver a high-quality coffee experience without beans.
