EU to curb Meta over AI monopoly, demands withdrawal of WhatsApp AI block
The European Union is preparing interim measures against Meta after opposing its policy of blocking third-party AI assistants from accessing WhatsApp, CNBC reported. EU competition chief Teresa Ribera said the bloc would act to prevent dominant IT companies from gaining unfair advantages and that a swift response is needed as the AI market grows quickly. Meta blocked access after changing WhatsApp business solution terms in October and enforcing them from January.
