OpenAI rolls out teen ChatGPT for 13 to 17-year-olds, says it can detect fake birthdates
OpenAI has begun rolling out a teen version of ChatGPT for users aged 13 to 17, automatically placing those accounts in a teen environment and blocking access for users under 13. The company is tightening age detection, including by inferring whether an account is under 18 even if a birthdate is falsified, and offering ID or selfie checks via Persona. It also added parental time locks and limited high-risk alerts, but not access to chat logs.
