Zcash to carry out \'Ironwood\' network upgrade on July 28
Zcash will implement the Ironwood network upgrade on July 28 local time to address a vulnerability in its privacy-focused transaction pool, Orchard. Cointelegraph reported on July 10 local time that the upgrade aims to block the so-called Infinity Bug found in Orchard in May. Once applied, the existing Orchard pool will be closed and new activity blocked, with a new privacy pool introduced and accounting checks required before funds move over.

Zcash Ironwood upgrade may be delayed amid lack of infrastructure readiness
Zcash is considering delaying its Ironwood network upgrade scheduled for late July, amid concerns that exchanges, mining pools and wallet providers may not have enough time to prepare for the software transition. Shielded Labs\' Jason McGee said on the Zcash community forum that the Ironwood upgrade and the shift to the Z3 stack are happening at the same time. Participants must replace zcashd with a Z3 stack made up of Zebra, Zaino and Zallet.

Zcash rushes out emergency patch for infinite counterfeit minting flaw, price rebounds
The Zcash development team applied an emergency patch for a critical vulnerability found in the Orchard shielded pool, The Block reported on June 8. Zcash Open Development Lab founder Josh Swihart carried out a two-step emergency upgrade. The first step was a soft fork to disable Orchard transactions to prevent exploitation before full disclosure. The second step used a June 3 hard fork to fix the root issue and re-enable Orchard transactions.
