Anthropic CEO Amodei flags AI industry trust crisis without proven benefits

Dario Amodei (다리오 아모데이), CEO of Anthropic, said the AI industry is in a trust crisis because it has not proven social benefits. He said people distrust AI when they feel governments and companies use it against them, and argued ads claiming AI can cure cancer would not be persuasive without real results. He called for balance on regulation and openness and noted growing concerns around AI deployment in surveillance, policing and military uses in the United States.

OpenAI next-generation model Astra seen likely to launch in September

Prediction market betting is concentrating on a September unveiling of OpenAI’s next AI model, Astra, even though no official launch date has been announced. Polymarket prices implied odds of 59 percent for a launch by Sept. 15 and about 72 percent by Sept. 30, with tens of thousands of dollars traded. OpenAI said on Aug. 7 it slowed the rollout due to cybersecurity risks and noted progress in agentic coding and cybersecurity.

Anthropic runs unreleased Model 2 stronger than Claude Mythos 5

Anthropic said it is operating an internal AI model, Model 2, that performs better than its top publicly known model, Claude Mythos 5, but it does not plan to release it. In an AI risk report, the company disclosed safety review results for Mythos 5 and Model 2 and described Model 2 as slightly more capable. Employees also rated it as improved on many tasks, though gains were limited. Benchmark and safety test results were mixed.
