KAIST develops structure to double OLED lighting efficiency
A KAIST team developed a semi-planar light extraction structure that improves OLED front light efficiency by at least two times while maintaining a flat display structure. The researchers said the approach accounts for the limited pixel size used in real displays and includes a new design method that directs light forward. The team said applying the design and structure together also works for flexible OLEDs and achieved more than a twofold efficiency gain in small pixels.
