Cross-government body launched to step up response to digital sex crimes
The Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission said on Monday it held a kickoff meeting for a cross-government consultative body on responding to digital sex crimes with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the National Police Agency and the Broadcasting Media and Communications Review Commission. The body is meant to cover prevention, investigations, blocking, and victim support. The agencies shared operating plans, discussed faster blocking and overseas illegal sites, and said the new chiefs-level forum will strengthen accountability and execution.

Frequency reassignment fee set at 3.1 trillion won as 5G standalone mandated
South Korea’s government will make 5G standalone service mandatory when renewing 3G and LTE spectrum whose usage periods expire next year. The Ministry of Science and ICT set the reassignment fee at 3.1 trillion won, about 14.8 percent below the previous reference price, reflecting expected value changes tied to 5G standalone deployment. The ministry also introduced indoor network investment options, shortened certain band terms for 6G preparation, and said major carriers have accepted the plan with varying reactions.

South Korea holds emergency meeting after Coupang breach, deputy PM urges prevention of secondary damage
The South Korean government held an emergency meeting after a breach at Coupang exposed about 33.7 million customer accounts. Officials said attackers exploited an authentication vulnerability to access names, emails, and delivery contacts. Payment and login data were not included. A joint investigation team began work to contain further damage, and authorities issued public security notices to prevent phishing. Coupang CEO Park Dae-joon apologised for the incident.
