Frequency reassignment fee set at 3.1 trillion won as 5G standalone mandated
South Korea’s government will make 5G standalone service mandatory when renewing 3G and LTE spectrum whose usage periods expire next year. The Ministry of Science and ICT set the reassignment fee at 3.1 trillion won, about 14.8 percent below the previous reference price, reflecting expected value changes tied to 5G standalone deployment. The ministry also introduced indoor network investment options, shortened certain band terms for 6G preparation, and said major carriers have accepted the plan with varying reactions.
