AI, software Maestro 17th class begins formal training
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT has started the 17th AI·SW Maestro training programme to foster advanced talent in artificial intelligence and software. The ministry held a launch ceremony in Seoul with the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation and the Federation of Korean Information Industries. A new Busan centre was established this year. Trainees will develop service-level projects over six months with mentoring.

Huawei Korea unveils AI digital infrastructure strategy at enterprise partner summit
Huawei Korea held its 2026 Huawei Korea Enterprise Partner Summit in Seoul on May 20 for executives from major domestic partners and shared its digital infrastructure strategy for the AI era and its partner vision. It set out three key directions: strengthening support for the commercial market, enhancing responsiveness to the AI market and deepening the partner ecosystem. The company also shared partner support policies and a technology roadmap, and presented an AI-integrated infrastructure vision.

2026 to mark clearer proof of quantum advantage as quantum AI era blooms
An IBM Korea executive said quantum computing is no longer a far-off technology and 2026 will be a stage to confirm clearer quantum advantage. He forecast a quantum-centric supercomputing era in which QPU, CPU and GPU work together to support large-scale computing. Another speaker said combining quantum and AI will become a source of national competitiveness and called for nurturing quantum talent. Officials and experts at an IITP event reviewed industrial changes driven by quantum AI.
