Naver signs $9 billion AI infrastructure deal with Brookfield, meets Nvidia investment condition

Naver signed a contract with alternative investment firm Brookfield to secure up to $9 billion of AI computing infrastructure. The deal meets a prerequisite for Nvidia’s planned $1 billion strategic equity investment in Naver, enabling the payment process to proceed. Brookfield plans to form a special purpose vehicle, Asset Co., to invest in GPUs and data centres. Naver Cloud will operate services using resources supplied by the vehicle. Naver plans to start 55 MW operations in early 2027 and expand to 200 MW by 2028.

Lotte to hold first AI competition linked to hiring with tasks from seven units

Lotte will hold its first groupwide AI competition linked to hiring, launching the AX Challenge 2026 with preliminary applications starting on Oct. 28. Seven companies, including Lotte Wellfood, Lotte Chilsung Beverage and Lotte Chemical, will each present a current task. OpenAI will provide technical support and take part in judging. There are no limits on age or education. The finals will be held Nov. 24 to 25 at Lotte’s Osan campus, with seven winners and 20 million won in total prize money.
