South Korea to overhaul R&D system, boost future-tech investment and talent development

South Korea will invest more than 200 trillion won in national research and development over the next five years and overhaul its R&D system, the government said. It set a 2027 government R&D budget plan of 39.5 trillion won, up 11.2 percent from this year, and will put 3.3 trillion won into new R&D projects. It will also focus on three mega projects and foster seven SEED areas while expanding regional autonomous R&D.
