Korea Investment Securities to expand AI infrastructure finance, teams up with Samil PwC on GPU financing

Korea Investment Securities will expand its finance business targeting AI infrastructure such as graphics processing units (GPUs) and AI data centres through cooperation with Samil PwC. The company said it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding for GPU financing with Samil PwC on Oct. 20. The two sides plan to jointly design investment structures and funding measures from early project stages after analysing asset characteristics, cash flow and capital demand.

Shinsegae joins CJ, Dowkium consortium to buy JoongAng Ilbo

Shinsegae will participate with CJ Group in the acquisition of JoongAng Ilbo after the Dowkium-CJ consortium was named preferred bidder, industry sources said on Monday. Shinsegae is expected to take a minority stake and become the third-largest shareholder after the deal, they said. The purchase price is put at about 500 billion won, to be financed through a third-party allotted capital increase to support debt repayment and improve finances.

Tving hack to AI character chat: parliament panel calls 29 witnesses for state audit

South Korea\'s National Assembly science, ICT, broadcasting and communications committee approved a list of 29 witnesses and 13 reference witnesses for the 2026 state audit. The list includes executives from Tving and its parent CJ ENM, security chiefs at the three telecom carriers, and representatives of Meta Korea, Coupang, Apple Korea, Google Korea, Telegram and X Korea. Scatter Lab\'s CEO was also called over risks linked to its AI character chat service Zeta.
