Motif Technologies raises 24 billion won in Series B to boost proprietary AI development

AI company Motif Technologies said on Tuesday it raised 24 billion won in a Series B funding round to strengthen its AI deep-tech capabilities.

In the round, existing investors NICE Investment Partners and Nautilus Investment made follow-on investments, and Dito Investment and Forest Ventures joined as new investors.

Jeong-hwan Lim (임정환), chief executive of Motif Technologies, said the company would carry out its plans without disruption, including ongoing projects, development of corporate AX solutions, and upgrades to next-generation AI infrastructure and services, to further strengthen its market competitiveness.

Motif Technologies was selected in February as an elite team for the "proprietary AI foundation model" project overseen by the Ministry of Science and ICT, based on its ability to develop large-scale AI foundation models grounded in a philosophy of "proprietary design".

It is developing a 300B-class inference large language model (LLM) with 17 institutions including Moreh, Seoul National University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Samil PwC, the National Heritage Promotion Agency and HDC Labs. It plans to advance it step by step into a 310B-class vision-language model (VLM) and a 320B-class vision-language-action (VLA) model to secure a global-level proprietary AI foundation model.
