Harvard study says EVs to make up 32 percent of U.S. new car sales by 2030
A Harvard University study projects electric vehicles will account for 32 percent of U.S. new car sales in 2030, and estimates the share would have been close to 48 percent without federal policy changes. The analysis reflects U.S. regulatory and legislative steps since January 2025, including ending EV purchase tax credits and easing emissions rules. Researchers cited charging concerns as the biggest obstacle and said better charging data transparency could lift EV sales.
