Post-quantum security tech emerges without changing crypto wallet addresses
A new security technology has been proposed that aims to prepare for future quantum-computer attacks without changing addresses or moving assets in existing cryptocurrency wallets. Blockchain security firm American Fortress 공개ed an encryption structure that adds post-quantum protection while keeping ECC-based wallets for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. The paper says it is compatible with HD wallets but has not been peer reviewed. Rival efforts include Freedom Factory’s PQ1 post-quantum hardware wallet for EVM networks.

Ethereum unveils quantum-computing plan costing $0.07 per account
A plan has been presented for Ethereum to prepare post-quantum security at the account level without a network-wide upgrade. Nico (니코), head of the Ethereum Foundation privacy project Kohaku, said the structure could be implemented at a cost of about $0.07 per account. The proposal seeks to verify quantum-resistant signatures on Ethereum’s execution layer without a hard fork or added precompiles, and includes formal verification steps. Further security audits are planned.

Four ways Bitcoin can survive a quantum threat
Discussion is gaining pace on network-level defence upgrades after concerns were raised that quantum computers could undermine Bitcoin\'s core cryptography. CoinDesk reported that Google research said a sufficiently powerful quantum computer could crack Bitcoin\'s ECDSA in under 9 minutes, faster than the average 10-minute block time. While such machines do not exist yet, some analysts see a possible turning point around 2029. Proposals include keeping public keys off-chain, shifting to quantum-resistant signatures, reducing mempool exposure, and limiting rapid outflows from already exposed funds.
