Rapolabs withdraws application to acquire SK Stoa; broadcast media commission warns of strict review on refiling
Rapolabs, which is pursuing the acquisition of SK Stoa, withdrew its application for approval to change the home-shopping broadcaster’s largest shareholder. The Korea Communications Commission ended its review process after being notified of the withdrawal. A review panel had said Rapolabs’ financing and operating plans did not meet approval standards. Rapolabs said it has not abandoned the acquisition and plans to reapply after revising its contract with SK Telecom.

Government, home shopping firms and SMEs pledge shared growth, push 10 tasks
The government, home shopping industry and small and medium-sized enterprises will strengthen cooperation to develop the home shopping sector and promote shared growth. The Broadcasting Media Communications Commission held a joint declaration event in Seoul on July 20 with 12 home shopping companies and partner SMEs. The participants agreed on regulatory reform and policy support, fair trading practices, user rights protection and stronger product and service competitiveness, and set out 10 joint action tasks.

SK Broadband\'s B tv Hot Deals posts 6 billion won cumulative sales in 8 months
SK Broadband said on Tuesday its TV-based short-form commerce service, B tv Hot Deals, recorded cumulative sales of 6 billion won and 270,000 orders in eight months after its launch. The service, which airs on B tv channel 41, introduces discounted home shopping products in short videos of about a minute. SK Broadband said the channel averages 800,000 users a day and has expanded participating home shopping partners and listed items.
