Bouygues CEO warns Europe unaware of risks from U.S. dominance in AI and satellites
Bouygues CEO Olivier Roussat warned that Europe is overly dependent on U.S. companies for satellite and artificial intelligence infrastructure, and said Europe has not fully grasped the risks. He urged a rethink of reliance on U.S.-based satellite internet services such as SpaceX’s Starlink and said Europe should develop its own capabilities to secure a degree of sovereignty. His comments come amid moves to reshape France’s telecom market and scrutiny by EU competition regulators.
