U.S. House bill targets electronic door handles amid EV safety debate
A bill introduced in the U.S. House would require vehicles with electronic door latches to include manual release mechanisms that occupants can easily find and use even when power is fully cut. The proposal would also require clear labels for manual release on each door and provisions enabling rescuers to access vehicles from outside during power loss. The bill is widely viewed as targeting Tesla, including Model 3 and Model Y designs.
