Revolut launches euro-pegged stablecoin EURR

Fintech firm Revolut has launched its first euro-pegged stablecoin, EURR. Blockchain outlet U.Today reported that Revolut has joined the ranks of fintech firms issuing their own stablecoins. Revolut said EURR is designed to maintain the same value as 1 euro, providing users an additional payment option and enabling digital euros to be moved on-chain. Revolut said EURR was launched via a subsidiary regulated under MiCA rules.

$5,000 flows into Satoshi dormant wallet, funds effectively unrecoverable

Bitcoin worth about $5,000 has newly flowed into a dormant wallet linked to Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. The funds were sent from a Revolut co-owned hot wallet, making it hard to identify the sender. On-chain data show the sender tested the address with small transfers before sending 0.033 BTC. The recipient is a so-called Patoshi address cluster holding 1.11 million BTC, a holding described as untouched.

ECB selects 36 companies to test digital euro ahead of 2027 pilot

The European Central Bank has selected 36 payment service providers to take part in tests of the digital euro ahead of a pilot programme due to start in the second half of 2027. The ECB plans to move the project from the design stage to a testing stage and run a 12-month beta test. The list includes fintech firms such as Stripe and Revolut and banks including Deutsche Bank and UniCredit.
