DTC seeks to cut stock registration transfer processing time from days to minutes

The Depository Trust Company has filed a proposal with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to revamp its Direct Registration System with the goal of cutting stock registration transfer processing times from days to minutes. The plan focuses on automating procedures by reducing batch processing and manual steps. Under the proposal, DTC’s securities processing application would automatically create orders and reflect shares in participants’ accounts after approval.

A crypto researcher said Cardano’s key challenge is securing network usage commensurate with its market value, rather than its technology. He pointed to a wide gap between Cardano’s valuation and real economic activity, noting its low DeFi total value locked versus its market capitalisation. Crypto industry should lock in institutional adoption before 2028 U.S. election, separate from Clarity bill

The crypto industry should expand blockchain adoption now to a level that would be hard to reverse in case of a future change in U.S. administration, an industry executive said. Digital Asset co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz said at Token2049 in Singapore that firms should use the current regulatory environment to accelerate institutional adoption and make blockchain widely used infrastructure before the 2028 U.S. presidential election. Panelists differed on reliance on the Clarity bill, while noting ongoing work by the SEC and CFTC.
