Tesla\'s promotion of unsupervised Full Self-Driving is triggering growing calls in U.S. politics for safety verification. Driver supervision is still required when using FSD in the United States, but Elon Musk has continued to post messages that could be taken as suggesting unsupervised operation is possible. Lawmakers cited concerns from prior Autopilot probes, social media videos showing inattentive drivers, and software warnings that appear to encourage use even when drowsiness is detected.
