BlackBerry, gone from smartphones, makes flashy return with software
Many people no longer remember BlackBerry, once a dominant maker of keyboard smartphones, and some ask whether it still exists. The company is no longer in the handset business and has shifted to software. Its QNX automotive software, including the ONX vehicle operating system, now accounts for about half of revenue and has helped deliver four straight profitable quarters. QNX is installed in about 275 million vehicles, the Wall Street Journal reported.
