Tesla wins patent for electric fan car with four ducted fans ahead of Roadster reveal
Tesla has registered a U.S. patent for an “electric fan car” system that pulls air from under the vehicle to create downforce regardless of speed. The design places four axial fans inside the rear diffuser and routes airflow from an intake between the rear wheels. The patent outlines limits of passive diffusers at low and high speeds and proposes adding two side intakes. The fans draw power from the vehicle’s high-voltage battery pack and can be driver-activated or automated.
